The ex- England striker did turn down an offer of $20 million back in 1997, from the Spanish giants Barcelona to continue with Newcastle United.
The united fans were soon on his case.
As a Man Utd fan I would like to apologise on behalf of this low level IQ tweet

Lukaku has surely hit the high with his performance in 2016/17 Premier League campaign as he scored 25 goals for Everton.
He made it clear that this would be his last season at Everton. Despite being heavily linked with a return to his former club Chelsea, he chose to join Manchester United instead.
United are the most successful club in England and Lukaku’s reaction to the move is quite natural. Alan, probably seems to be just having some fun.
However, there are instances in football where great players have also turned down big money move elsewhere. Alan Shearer is one of them.
