Motorist and drivers as well as those who are road users along the E O Leblanc Highway, mainly across the area called Morne Scope at the southern entrance of the Mahaut, are being urged to take precaution and to remain cautious while traversing the area. The details about the following notice came to the forefront following the recent announcement made by the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
It is to be noted that, the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has made the following announcement adding that, “This as emergency works are going on in order to make the section of the road fully and completely functional.
Considerably, the emergency works have became necessary as the recent heavy rainfall have resulted in causing major damages to the already compromised area resulting in the failure of the existing retaining wall.
The following announcement has been made by the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica concerning mainly about the regular road users, as it is critical pass along the E O Leblanc Highway. Noting to which, the Government of Dominica announced that, “The Morne Scope area is a critical pass along the E O Leblanc Highway and the failure of the returning wall caused a significant narrowing of the roadway.”
At the same time, the government of Dominica has also deployed its officials on the affected areas to ensure timely repair of the damage caused by the recent rainfall. Noting which, the Government of Dominica, added that, “A contractor has been engaged to carry out the work and a multi-tare retaining wall is being constructed to address the situation.”
It is to be specifically mentioned that, the Minister of the Public Works of Dominica, Fidel Grant and the Parliamentary Representative for the Mahaut Cassanni Laville has paid visit to the area over the weekend to assess the situation.
The Government has made assurance about the commitment, adding that, “The Government of Dominica is committed in ensuring that motorist have safe roadways in order to move freely across the island.”
