‘I would have preferred to play in Barcelona’ not in Israel, says Argentina team coach
All the Pro-Palestinian forces have been building pressure on Argentina football team to refrain their friendly match in Israel which was scheduled to be on 9th June. The reports have been confirmed by various Argentinean news agencies and officials. It was a friendly match for both the teams before they start their World cup campaign.

Palestinian football boss Jibril Rajoub said on Sunday on Barcelona star Messi to not play in an Argentina-Israel game in Jerusalem and urged fans to burn their shirts if he does.
An increased barbarism and inhumanity in the region would be covered if the match took place in occupied Jerusalem. The recent protests after the opening of US embassy in disputed Jerusalem ended in huge riots and Israeli paramilitary forces killed hundreds of Palestinian protesters including children.
Following the huge criticism by Arab league, Human right commissions and above all fans the Argentina officials called off their match and Argentina forward-Higuain talking to ESPN said,
“I think that in the end the right thing was done,” he said. “It’s now behind us, obviously our health and common sense comes first, we think the right thing to do was not to go.”
The match was a political tool and even to celebrate the 70th anniversary by Israel and to cherish the recent occupation of Jerusalem. It would have been huge disaster for Argentina football team’s reputation and resulted in huge backlash just before the Worldcup. Till now no official statement is released by Argentine football association (AFA), but the time schedule on Google is showing cancelled.
