Saint Lucia: Caribbean Grains Saint Lucia Limited granted $4,000 (NCD) to the Ubuntu Movement’s SEEDS Community Resources Centre in Vieux Fort. The grant was extended during the recent participation of the company in the Saint Lucia-Taiwan Partnership Trade Show.
As per the sources, it was a social intervention which aimed at redirecting youthful energies towards more positive outcomes. Furthermore, the initiative demonstrates the impact of government in collaboration with the civil society and private sector.
While handing over the grant, Commerce Minister – Emma Hippolyte and Permanent Secretary – Charmaine Louis-Justin were present. Director of Consumer Affairs – Wendy Frederick was conjoined by other members of staff of the Ministry of Commerce at the event.
Caribbean Grains’ CEO – Xavier de Moussac, General Manager Osmond Davy and CFO Eddie Antonie marked their presence. Hon. Priest Kailash Leonce, the representative from Ubuntu Movement and Dr Stephen King, representative of RISE St Lucia Inc., attended the handover ceremony on Thursday, December 07, 2023.
Reportedly, the Saint Lucia-Taiwan Partnership Trade Show began on Friday, November 03, 2023. The trade between the two nations featured companies such as Tender Care Plants, ACR Wines, Saint Lucia 360 and many more.
The objective of the Trade Show is to develop strategic trading and networking alliances. The trading and networking are mainly done among private sector stakeholders.
The trade show is organised every year with the anticipation that the alliances would provide mutual benefits to all the parties. It is ensured that they will continue to encourage the distribution and consumption of the displayed products and services in the domestic market.
Before the trade show began, it conducted an official opening ceremony, which was held on Thursday, November 02, 2023 at 07:00 p.m. All governmental officials, such as Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, Emma Hippolyte, Cyril Errol Charles and Peter Chia-Yen Chen, marked their presence at the ceremony.
It was then concluded with a vote of thanks extended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Sophia Alfay-Henry, and a closing musical performance.
