ECP Under Fire as Tech Failure Delays Election Results in Pakistan
Election Commission of Pakistan was exposed late night as the general election 2018 results were delayed by 2 hours after an ECP software failure, that was to be used to relay the results.
“There’s no conspiracy, nor any pressure in delay of the results,” Babar Yaqoob, secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The delay is being caused because the result transmission system (RTS) has been crashed.
For those who don’t know, Election commission of Pakistan had developed RTS (Results Transmission System) to relay polling results to central command (ECP headquarters) through a phone application. After votes were counted, presiding officers were supposed to submit the results through a mobile app to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Till now ECP has not announced any result officially, Media houses are announcing on their ground sources however for the official result manually submission instead of RTS to Results Management System on ECP’s official has been started and expected to show official results within next few hours.
We just hope that the government departments will start hiring professionals to deploy their IT infrastructures, which must be solid, reliable, hack-proof and DDoS proof.
Stay tuned because, NO Official result has been announced until now.
