Google is paying tribute to the legendary Pakistani Shahenshah e Ghazal, Mehdi Hassan with doodle

18th of July would have marked as the 91st birthday of Mehdi Hassan sahab. The king of melody won the hearts around the globe through his unique style of singing. Google doodle tributes legendary Mehdi sahab on their homepage.

In the past, Google have also paid tribute to Pakistan’s prominent personalities; Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Noor Jehan, Nazia Hasan, Sadequain and many others.

Shahenshah e Ghazal, Mehdi Hassan was born on July 18, 1927 in a village called “Luna” in Rajasthan, India. Mehdi Hassan sahab started his first ever musical performance on Radio Pakistan in 1957, he started as thumri singer later became his identity.
That moment was the kick start for Mehdi sahab after which he never looked back and went on singing number of playback songs for Pakistani films. Till date Mehdi Hassan sahab is considered as the best Ghazal artist. He has sung for almost 300 films, some of his best memorable songs are “Jab Koi Pyaar Se Bulaye Ga, Tum Ko Ek Shakhs Yaad Aye Ga” and ” Ik Husan ki devi se mujhay pyar huwa tha”.
The doodle has great resemblance with this appearance of Mehdi Hassan sahab.

The empty space left by his immortal performances in musical world would be hardly filled by anyone else. His unique style and composition is peerless.
