The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a heatwave that is expected to hit Karachi from May 1 to Mau 3. Citizens of Karachi are requested to take necessary precautionary measures during this heatwave.
Karachi could experience temperatures between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius during the expected three-day heatwave while the southwestern winds coming from the sea will remain suspended.
The Government of Sindh has set up 115 heat strokes centre to address the extreme weather conditions. Furthermore, the health department has declared high alert at 13 hospitals and cancelled all the leaves of hospital staff.
It is no joke, most compelling evidence is the year 2015, in which Pakistan suffered from 49 C temperature, 2000 person was killed in the process due to dehydration.
Winds direction will be from N/NW during day times. Please take necessary & below mentioned precautionary measures during this heatwave:
– Drink plenty of water
– Take at least one cool shower/bath
– Refresh your skin with a wet towel
It’s better to know the difference between heat stroke and heat exhaustion to counter them effectively.
It is high time that we should start planting trees or suffer the same fate as nations such as Libya and Myanmar.
