Parliamentary Representative from the Constituency of Roseau Central of Dominica, Melissa Poponne Skerrit, has asked the residents of the island nation to join hands in uplifting the farming and agriculture sector of Dominica.
Parliamentarian Melissa Skerrit took it to her official social media handle to share the photos along with, adding that, “Several experienced farmers have joined Melissa Skerrit in utilizing potato grow bags with specialized ventilation as well as visualization windows to look when their root crops are ready for easy harvesting.”
While noting to the above-said information, Parliamentarian Melissa Skerrit added that, “The fete is over & we have buried carnival till 2024. Let’s get busy. Join me in becoming a modern day farmerette!”
She mentioned that, “Several experienced farmers have joined me in utilizing the potato grow bags with specialized ventilation as well as visualization windows to see when your root crops are ready for an easy harvesting.”
Melissa Skerrit, along with the farmers, has also traced vertical farming with hanging wall planners to grow a variety of herbs. She added that, “These are a few of the ideal farming techniques if you are a resident of the city, and lacking access to farming land or you are simply like me and looking quick, yet easy way while maintaining a fresh manicure.”
Along with this, she also stated that, “Seedlings, organic fertilizer, and potato grow bags would be provided to interested farmers in Roseau Central.”
At the same time, she has also asked residents in, “joining for growing tomatoes, peppers, carrots, herbs, potatoes, onion, flowers and much more in our city alley ways, porches as well as mini backyards.”
