The Lions

England, who were left bitterly disappointed back in 2013, against India in the finals will be looking forward to carry on with the amazing form the squad is in currently, against Pakistan.

Eoin Morgan and his team have been so positive in their approach from the word ‘Go’. In their first game against a well drilled Bangladesh side, England were able to chase 305 runs, loosing only two wickets. A similar performance against New Zeland in their second game assured a semi final place as England this time were able to defend their target of 311, winning the game comprehensively by 87 runs.

They were to face Australia in their last group stage match in which the Aussies needed to win to progress. England without changing a lot in their line up were able to win the game swiftly by 40 runs. An inspirational knock by Ben Stokes has surely threatened their upcoming opponents further.

The Cornered Tigers

Well Well Well ! What can we say about Pakistan cricket team after their display against Sri Lanka? It’s probably better to stay quiet and let them do what they feel like, because if it weren’t for Sri Lanka’s pathetic fielding, Pakistani squad would be looking out for a place to hide by now.

The campaign for the men in green began with an intriguing fixture against their foremost rivals, India. Talking about all those hopeful talks and predictions we had before the game was useless as Pakistan lost the game by a staggering 124 runs. However, in their second game, a deja-vu occurs reviving their tournament by beating South Africa, just like they did it back in the World Cup 2015.

Pakistan, then went on to win against Sri Lanka in Cardiff, courtesy to some poor fielding by the Lankan’s.

Team Changes

England will not be playing Jason Roy today and Jhonny Bairstow is likely to replace him. Jason Roy scored only 18 runs in England’s three Champions Trophy group game.

Pakistan is likely to play the same team that played against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Vs England 1992 Final :

The only time these sides have met in the knockout rounds of a major one-day tournament was 25 years ago, when Pakistan beat England in the final of the 1992 World Cup. Pakistan also began that tournament in a state of chaos. England have played to reach this stage of the Champions Trophy as the only unbeaten side. Surely, they would be aware of Pakistan’s ability to turn the game on its head on a good day.

Cricket fanatics in Pakistan are praying for a victory as India are likely to defeat Bangladesh in the second semi final on Thursday. This will bring up a Pakistan- India Final in a major tournament after the T20 world cup in 2007.
