On Wednesday, it was revealed that a police officer who has reportedly raped an 18-year-old girl in Karachi had surrendered to the authorities.
On Monday, Saddar police filed a first information report (FIR) against the officer in response to the girl’s father’s complaint that the officer had raped his daughter at their home inside the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s residential colony (JPMC).
After being named in the FIR, the cop surrendered himself to SSP Investigation (South), according to a Sindh police spokeswoman.
He stated that the case was being personally monitored by the SSP Investigation.
Dr Summaiya Syed, an additional police surgeon at JPMC, told Dawn.com that the girl, the daughter of a hospital guard who lived on the premises, was brought in for medical evaluation on Monday night.
“It was discovered that she is five months pregnant during the medical checkup,” the medical officer continued.
The guy took his daughter to the hospital on Monday after she complained of gastrointestinal pain, according to the FIR. She had a medical exam, which included an ultrasound, which revealed she was expecting a kid.
The youngster later told her family that she had been sexually raped by a police officer who resides in their neighbourhood, according to the FIR.
She claimed the incident happened on July 28, 2021, when she was home alone because her entire family had gone to a relative’s funeral.
“He contacted me at 3 p.m. while I was cleaning the house and asked me to come to his house because his daughter wanted to speak with me,” the girl explained to her family.
She claims the police officer slapped her, pulled her to a room, and raped her at gunpoint when she entered his home.
He also warned her with grave consequences if she told anyone about it, according to the girl.
The girl’s father went to the police station the next day and filed a FIR, alleging that his daughter had been raped under duress and demanding legal action against the culprit.
