Major Geoffrey Langlands was the teacher of Prime Minister Pakistan, Ch Nisar, Farooq Lagahari and many other leaders and he passed away. Major Geoffrey Langlands left us on January 2 at the age of 101.
Geoffrey Langlands was a teacher of generations and he taught many leaders of Pakistan at the Atchison College.
This is what the official statement of Aitchison College was after his death
“Aitchison College mourns the passing of Major Geoffrey Douglas Langlands MBE, CMG, HI, SPk who left us quietly on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 10:15 a.m. after a brief illness.
Born on October 21, 1917, and affectionately known to all as ‘The Major’, we acknowledge the life of a soldier, teacher, gentleman, story-teller, mountaineer and humanitarian whose life was devoted in service to others and especially his adopted country Pakistan.”
Here’s Imran Khan’s tribute to his teacher
On July 1947 Major Langlands was posted to the Pakistan army for a year. While many other British officers left the country on new Government’s orders, Major stayed and since then he has been living in Pakistan.
After that, he got the contract from the new government because of his exceptional work and started teaching in the Atchison College for Boys in Lahore and kept going with his teaching career. Later, he contributed in the establishment of the Langlands school and college in Chitral and taught for 24 years there.
