Yasir Shah becomes fastest to take 200 test wickets and breaks 82-year old record
Abu Dhabi: During the third and final test match between Pakistan and New Zealand, Yasir Shah on his 33rd test match took his 200th wicket to become fastest to reach that milestone.
Yasir Shah needed five wickets on his 33rd test match to break the 82-year old record of fastest bowler to take 200 test wickets. And the nation was eagerly waiting after he got three wickets in the first inning of the match.
Finally, on the fourth day of the match, he took two wickets to break the record. And became the fastest bowler to do so. Amid a sunny morning on Thursday, Yasir Shah dismissed William Somerville and breaks the record of Australian leg spinner Clarrie Grimmett’s 82-year old record. Clarrie Somerville had taken 36 test matches to took 200 wickets.
Yasir Shah key player for Pakistan test team
Yasir Shah was also the fastest Pakistani to take 50 wickets in 9 matches, and 100 wickets in only 17 matches. Which is the second fastest in the world after England’s George Lohmann. Yasir Shah took 150 wickets in 24 matches which is also the second fastest. The 2nd position is shared between him and his senior in business Waqar Younis.
Yasir Shah helped Pakistan to keep alive in the series, after their loss in the first test. Yasir took 14 wickets in the second test match and declared as the Player of the Match. He got 14 wickets for 184 runs, which was the 2nd best for Pakistan after Imran Khan’s 14 wickets for 116 runs against Sri Lanka in Lahore in 1982.
Third and decider match
Pakistan’s hope to end the series on a positive note is high, as Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq batted responsibly in the first inning. It is looking that is all set to take the trophy home.
