The Taliban officials and sources had recently made a clarification about the killing of famous Taliban cleric, Sheikh Rahimullah Haqqani, who was killed in a seminary in the capital city of Kabul when the attacker fired bomb explosives hidden in a plastic artificial leg on Thursday.
As per the statement issued by the spokesperson for the Taliban administration, “Very sadly informed that respected cleric (Sheikh Rahumullah Haqqani) was martyred in a crowdly attack by enemies.”
The sources have revealed that it was not evident that who was behind the blast.
According to reports, four Taliban sources said that the attacker was someone who had earlier lost his leg and had hidden the bomb explosives in a plastic artificial leg.
Meanwhile, one senior Taliban official of the interior ministry, referring to the group’s name for its administration, “We are probing who this attacker was and who had brought him to this highly important place to take entry into the personal office of Sheikh Rahimullah Haqqani. It is very big loss for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.”
Haqqani was a very famous cleric in the Taliban who had survived earlier attacks, including a large blast in the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar in 2020 claimed by the Islamic State that has killed at least seven people.
The Taliban added they had restored security since they took over as foreign forces withdrew almost a year ago. But, continuous attacks, the majority of them claimed by Islamic State, have taken place in recent months, often targeting religious and ethnic minorities along with the Talibani leaders.
