In an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mir Ali region of North Waziristan tribal province, four Pakistan Army personnel accepted death in an exchange of fire with terrorists, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
Security personnel conducted an IBO on the reported presence of terrorists in the region, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operation, the terrorists and the military engaged in a fierce firefight, which resulted in the death of four servicemen. Havaldar Munawar, Sepoy Zaka Ullah, Sepoy Farhan, and Sepoy Sheraz were among the martyred soldiers.
Meanwhile, security personnel carried out another operation in the Tank area in response to information of terrorists in the area.
Two terrorists were killed during the operation, later identified as Shahzeb alias Zakir and Daniyal. During the raid, the soldiers also recovered weaponry.
The ISPR statement claimed, “These terrorists were involved in several terror actions, including attacks against security forces, targeted killings, and kidnapping for ransom.”
Terrorists stormed a security checkpoint in Balochistan’s Kech district earlier on December 24, killing two soldiers.
When the attack happened, the ISPR claimed a follow-up operation was underway in the region to look for the terrorists.
On the same day, a member of the security forces was martyred in Balochistan when terrorists attacked a post near the Pakistan-Iran border.
