Grand Bay, Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has been focusing on revolutionizing the housing and urban development sector. It has been continuously working to encourage housing initiatives across the island.
The government of Dominica has been providing decent homes, with sustainable and resilient housing communities, to the families of Dominica. The housing construction was funded by the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.
Major construction projects are in full swing in Scotts Head, Eggleston and Canefield via the key partners as well as stakeholders. MMC Development Limited has built a brand-new integrated community.
The Grand Bay Ville Housing Development is a ground-breaking, contemporary, master-planned concept. Under this project, more than 100 standalone houses, 29 empty plots for future construction and more than 10 houses for complete renovation as well as modernization will fill out the scenic surrounding of the development.
The housing units will have three bedrooms, two toilets and bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a living room, a laundry and a porch.
The housing unit would be beautifully crafted, featuring a commercial square consisting of 22 shops, a gas station, a magistrate house, a regional fire station, a community centre, and a church. In addition, there will be sporting facilities such as basketball courts, recreational spaces, and pocket parks.
The safety around the housing unit will be ensured by the presence of renovated police station, which will provide 24×7 services to the general public.
Unlike all projects by MMC Development Ltd, the highest resiliency standards will follow the substructures and superstructures, including reinforced concrete, shatter-proof windows, and underground utilities, to combat adverse weather and natural disasters.
The 25-acre project will be one of its own kind in the Caribbean Region. It will be a fully integrated model.
The Grand Bay Ville will provide housing to families who lost their homes after Hurricane Maria hit Dominica in 2017.
