The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has made a congratulatory remark, announcing the Dominica naming among the seven Caribbean venues to host matches during the T20 World Cup. The matches will take place from June 4 to June 30, 2024.
It is to be noted that the details about the above mentioned has been shared by the Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, over his official social media handle. Noting to the social media post shared by PM Skerrit, reads that, “We’re a big deal, and this news is a big deal!
Dominica named among seven Caribbean venues to host matches during the T20 World Cup, which runs from June 4-30, 2024. Get ready to play hosts to the world for exciting cricket action right here on the Nature Island!”
Notably, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has made the confirmation about the seven venues in the Caribbean which will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 from June 4 to June 30, 2024. As per the announcement made by the ICC, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago will be the hosting nations for the games. Alongside this, Dallas, Florida and New York will be joining as the another three venues in the list.
While making the announcement about it, ICC Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice said that, “We are delighted to make the announcement about 7 Caribbean venues that will be hosting the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. They’re all popular venues with players and fans alike that will provide a wonderful backdrop to the event.”
He also thanked Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the seven host governments for their continued commitment and support for the sports.
Along with this, Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave said that, “This is one of the exciting moment as we are announcing our venues, which are approved to host the largest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in history, with 20 teams playing in 55 matches in June the coming year.”
About ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup, hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is also the first ICC World Cup tournament to feature the matches played in the United States. 20 teams will contest the tournament, of which, England are the defending champion, having won the previous edition in 2022.
