The Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Melissa Poponne Skerrit, on Wednesday, has made an update on the Hurricane Preparedness Initiative. The following announcement from the Minister Skerrit came during the Hurricane season in Dominica, starting from June 1.
In the post, Minister Melissa Poponne Skerrit has asked everyone to remain safe and to empower their homes along with protecting their families and loved ones during this hurricane season.
While taking it to her official social media handle, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, Melissa Poponne Skerrit, added that, “DIY Hurricane Preparedness Initiative. Strengthening your homes to protect your family. Ensure that your home is adequately secured! Contact your constituency representative for distribution information.”
In the social media post, Minister Melissa Poponne Skerrit, while sharing the Hurricane Preparedness Initiative, added that, “As the Hurricane season is approaching, it is highly crucial for people of Dominica to take proactive measures in empowering their homes and ensuring the safety of their families.”
Noting to the hurricane preparedness initiative, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will provide the people of Dominica with the essential supplies that is must required during this hurricane season.
Referring to which, she added that, “The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is providing vital supplies that enables residents to enhancing the resilience of their homes and protect their families for the upcoming 2023 hurricane season.”
In the social media post, she has also shared the eligibility criteria:
Applicants must
- Be residents of Dominica
- Be committed to actively participating in the initiative
- Be willing to comply with all the relevant building codes and regulations
- Have access to the necessary tools or human resources to install the materials themselves.
- Be willing to provide feedback or take part in monitoring and evaluation activities.
She added that, “Application forms can be obtained at any office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development or at any Constituency Offices.”
