“Good Healthcare is essential for maintaining a healthy population and ensuring high quality of life for every citizen is my objective as a prime minister and minister of health to ensure that the citizens and residents of our Federation receive quality medical treatment and preventative care when needed,” says Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew during media address on March 2, 2023.
While addressing, PM Drew has highlighted several key issues going on across the nation, mainly ensuring focus towards improving the health sector of the nation.
During the address, Dr Drew mentioned that, “Access to quality healthcare is crucial in addressing health inequalities and reducing disparities in health. The overall health and wellbeing of our citizens are of paramount importance.”
Moreover, Dr Drew has also ensured the key factor of deep cleaning being done at Cardio Home for improving the overall aesthetics. Noting to which, he said that, “It is the intention of the government to provide the necessary support required to better the conditions for elderly and healthcare professionals who are at the Cardio Home.”
He further highlighted that, “This week, 10 new Elderly care assistants were employed at the current home supplying the required human resource to properly cater to our elderly. The assistants recently completed their certification course at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. Deep cleaning is being done to improve the aesthetics of the venue and efforts are being made to make further infrastructural changes.”
At the same time, PM Drew has referred to another major issue, adding that, “The government of St Kitts and Nevis is also actively seeking a site for the new JNF General hospital.”
He said that, “The government believe that the modern and fully equipped hospital with efficient trained staff is long overdue. We are seeking to construct a smart hospital. This is a necessity not a choice.”
