Castries, Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism expressed pleasure in welcoming Seabourn Ovation to the shores of Saint Lucia for the first time. The cruise ship docked at the Castries port with 485 guests.
Ernest Hilaire took to Twitter and welcomed the cruise. He cited, “Today we welcomed Seabourn Ovation to our shores for the first time. The ship arrived with 485 guests at Rodney Bay. It’s always a pleasure to welcome new ships to our beautiful island.”
The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) also expressed pleasure about the inaugural call of Seabourn Ovation to Port Castries on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
The Seabourn Ovation, launched in 2018, is a sister to the Seabourn Encore. It is known as the modeled after the newer ships in the Seabourn fleet and has ultra-luxury design elements often found in private yachts. The prestigious vessel is fitted with modern amenities and offers delicious dining options, world-class entertainment, and enriching activities. The 690ft vessel houses a capacity of 600 guests.
A welcome ceremony was held onboard the vessel to welcome Seabourn Ovation to Saint Lucia’s ports, anchored at the Rodney Bay Marina. In attendance was the Tourism Minister, Dr Ernest Hilaire, representatives of Invest Saint Lucia, the Ministry of Tourism, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Cox and Company Limited, and Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority.
Minister of Tourism, Dr Ernest Hilaire, said, “Saint Lucia has noted an 81% recovery or rebound in terms of tourism,” says Minister Ernest Hilaire. He further expressed the Government’s enthusiasm stating, “we are certain that our operators and service providers on the ground are looking forward to reaping as much benefit as possible from this cruise season.”
SLASPA has welcomed a total of 4 inaugural calls since the beginning of the cruise season. Some of these include; Evrima, Celebrity Edge, Rhapsody of the Seas, and Seabourn Ovation.
