The government of Punjab on Wednesday has assured the Lahore High Court that the image of the caretaker chief minister would not be used for the advertisement campaigns of the development projects.
It is to be noted that, the Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmad was hearing a petition that was challenging the actions that has been taken to promote the caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on the construction of the flyovers and underpasses in the city.
During the last hearing, the judge had expressed concern over the spending from the public exchequer on advertisement campaigns featuring the image of the caretaker CM and sought a reply from the government.
On Wednesday, an additional advocate general appeared before the court and undertook that the image of the caretaker CM would not be used for any kind of the official campaign.
In light of the government’s undertaking, Justice Ahmad disposed of the petition with a warning of strict action if such a practice is repeated in future.
Earlier, the judge observed that the money collected as taxes from the public should not be misused. He declared that those who promoted themselves with the public money would be held accountable.
A citizen, Hafiz Israrul Haq, had filed the petition.
