The Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Melissa Poponne Skerrit has paid visit at several housing projects in Paix Bouche, Vieille Case and Penville with the Parliament Secretary Lakeyia Joseph and Minister Oscar George to hold meeting with the local contractors and to keep a check on the progress.
It is to be noted, that Minister Melissa Skerrit took it to her official social media handle to share the photos of her visit to the sites of the housing projects. Noting to the social media post shared by Minister Skerrit, the post reads that, “I visited a few housing projects in Paix Bouche, Vieille Case and Penville with the Lakeyia Joseph and Oscar George to touch base with the local contractors and to monitor progress timelines.”
In the social media post, Minister Melissa Skerrit has also shed light upon the government of Dominica’s commitment to become the world’s first climate resilient nation. Emphasizing on this, she also visited the sites and shared pictures of the progress of the main sites. Noting to which, Minister Melissa Skerrit, said that, “These hurricane proof homes are a true testament of our Government’s commitment to becoming the world’s first climate resilient country. Once completed, the structures will be spectacular but more importantly built to last for generations to come!”
She further added about the specific details and the base on which the houses were constructed. Sharing which, she added that, “Each house is built with a concrete roof and shatterproof glass windows. Additionally, by incorporating energy-efficient designs, utilizing resilient materials and ventilation systems, each home will be a safe haven in times of natural disasters.”
At the same time, she also stated that, “The recipients of these beautiful duplexes and garden style homes will also receive access to agricultural land to promote backyard farming and healthy eating.”
