Following the discovery of the Covid-19 virus among their students and employees, nine more educational institutions in Islamabad were closed.
Meanwhile, a smart lockdown has been enforced in six Rawalpindi district communities following the discovery of more than three instances in each of the locations.
Officials from the capital administration said four cases were discovered at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG), F-7/2, while three cases were discovered at Islamabad Model College for Girls, Rawal Town, two cases each at Islamabad Model School for Girls, F-6/1, Islamabad College for Girls F-6/2, Islamabad Model School for Girls, G-6/2, Islamabad Model School for Girls, G-6/2, Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X), Model Town Humak, and F-7/4, Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X) I-8/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4,
To prevent further transmission of the virus among staff and students, the District Health Office of Islamabad ordered that these educational establishments be closed.
The administrations of schools and colleges were urged to close their facilities immediately pending further notification from the district health office. They were also instructed to carry out disinfection efforts in accordance with the Ministry of National Health Services’ recommendations.
In addition, contacts of positive patients are being tracked down for virus testing, and information from institutions is being gathered in this regard. Positive cases were recommended to isolate themselves for two weeks in their homes.
They also said that the suspects and witnesses in the cases were urged to quarantine themselves.
In the previous three days, the number of educational institutions closed in the capital has risen to 19. On Sunday, two institutions were closed, followed by eight institutions on Monday and nine on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 479 new instances were registered in the city.
In the last 24 hours, 5,405 tests in the capital have discovered the virus in 267 men and 212 women, with an 8.86 percent positivity rate.
Officials said 112 instances were recorded in the 20-29 age group, 110 in the 30-39 age group, 86 in the 40-49 age group, 52 in the 0-9 age group, 49 in the 50-59 age group, 28 in the 10-19 age group, 25 in the 60-69 age group, nine in the 70-79 age group, and eight in the 80+ age group.
The number of active cases in the capital has risen to 2,702, with 66 being admitted to various hospitals and the remainder being isolated at home.
Rawalpindi
On Tuesday, one person died in the district, and 186 people tested positive for the virus. In addition, ten people have been freed from hospitals in the last 24 hours following their recuperation.
Hina Bibi, a Pindora resident, was taken to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on January 13 and died.
A smart lockdown was imposed in a street of Mohallah Town Saddar after the emergence of three cases in one day, according to the District Health Authority: Street No 5 of Tench Bhatta (four cases), Street 7, Peshawar Road (three cases), Street 11 of Mohallah Raja Sultan, Street 3 Lalazar Wah Cantonment, and Street 13 Airport Housing Society (four cases each).
According to data given by the Punjab government, the district’s positive rate was 9.31 percent. In the district, 1,997 samples were taken, with 186 of them testing positive.
In the district, there are 871 active patients, with 39 in hospitals and 832 at home.
Officials claimed 48 patients came from the cantonment and 44 from the city. In addition, 50 cases have been documented in Potohar Town, seven in Gujar Khan, three in Kahuta, seven in Kallar Syedan, and 25 in Taxila.
Ten new cases were admitted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, fourteen to the Fauji Foundation Hospital, two to the HFH, and thirteen to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.
Three patients are on ventilators, 26 are on oxygen, and ten are in stable condition.
