The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, has held a ceremony for extending honour to the women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. PM Drew extended greetings to the women for their remarkable works in the fields such as science, and the digital, blue and green economies.
PM Drew took it to his official social media handle, to share the update that, “International Women’s Day ended with a beautiful ceremony honouring several remarkable women who have made significant contributions to the overall development of St. Kitts and Nevis, at Government House.”
It is to be noted that, Dr Drew extended congratulations to the women across the island nation for their remarkable contributions to the several fields, which is as follows, “I extend congratulations to the all the extraordinary women who were recognized for their work in areas such as science; the digital, blue, and green economies.”
In the social media post, Dr Drew further mentioned that, “I had the privilege of presenting the Ceiling Shatter Award to the first female Governor General of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG, JP. Dame Marcella Liburd has played a significant role in the advancement of women within the Federation, particularly in her capacity as Minister of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, at a time when women empowerment was not as well received.”
At the same time, PM Drew added that, “She has indeed shattered quite a few ceilings. She has gained both national and regional recognition throughout her career for her significant contributions to gender affairs; and continues to serve with great humility, professionalism, bravery, and passion. She has remained a constant voice for the less fortunate.”
