St Kitts and Nevis: During the Parliament Session, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew enlightened about the ministers, responsible for Citizenship by Investment, National Security and Immigration. He applauded Dr Denzil Douglas for utilising revenue collected from CBI Programme to benefit the nation St Kitts and Nevis, by launching various economic beneficial programs.
PM Drew mentioned the positive aspects of the Citizenship by Investment Programme of the country St Kitts and Nevis. With this the prime minister spoke about the role of the administration of the Labour Party.
Considering this Dr Drew mentioned that he and his team has been working dedicatedly to improve the CBI programme sustainability and its integrity.
As Prime Minister and Minister with responsibility of national security, immigration and citizenship, Dr Terrance Drew recognised the leader of Labour Party Administration – Dr Denzil Douglas.
Dr Douglas led the party between 2008 and 2015 and has used the revenue collected by Citizenship by Investment Programme to develop infrastructure and building affordable homes for people.
He has utilised the revenue for advance education by hiring more teachers and improving school campuses and construct new hotels like Park Hyatt and Kittitian Hill.
Apart this, the administration led by Dr Denzil Douglas has launched the economic beneficial programs with the revenue collected out of the CBI Programme. Such programs consist of; the people empowerment program and the Reach program which recognize the ability of all to climb higher which was a program at the CFBC.
PM Drew also mentioned that the CBI revenue was well utilized to support empowerment programs and infrastructure development which yielded permanent jobs.
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis also stated that some people might not be aware that the St Kitts and Nevis Constitution and Citizenship Act allow people who invest sustainability in the country to apply for the privilege to become a citizen.
He added that according to the law since 1984, the applicants who successfully satisfy or due diligence requirements and invest sustainability, can issue a certificate of registration as a citizen and after that passport of St Kitts and Nevis.
Throwing light on the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme, he said that the CBI Programme is old by 40 years now. After an investment of a substantial amount and a satisfied due diligence process, people can apply for citizenship and by another process they can qualify to receive and then can apply for single person’s passport.
Prime Minister Drew wanted to clear that the law has been placed since 1984, most likely than a year after the independence of the nation in 1983. He said that the priority for him and his ministers is to be responsible for Immigration and Citizenship National Security as exposed before.
