Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre attends the meeting in Brussels in relation to International Migration Matters. The prime minister of Saint Lucia travelled to Brussels in Belgium for the meeting and will attend it from the evening of April 07, 2024 to the evening of April 12, 2024.
As per the sources, the purpose of the trip is to engage in discussions with the European Commission and European Parliament regarding the international migration matters.
The discussions will include the topics that will mainly focus on the proposed changes to the Schengen Visa-Free Regime and how can they impact the countries such as Saint Lucia that has investor citizenship programs.
Notably, Saint Lucia is known for its critical due-diligence processes that will serve as the base foundation of the successful citizenship-by-investment program.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Philip J Pierre visited to Brussels which was already planned in advance. Considering this a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the other OECS countries with similar programs that anticipates to be equally significant.
As a prime minister of Saint Lucia Philip J Pierre will articulate the position of the nation on the MOA and will also explore further measures that can be taken by all countries to strengthen the citizenship by investment programs.
It has been discussed priorly that during the absence of Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire will act as Prime Minister for Finance.
The Deputy prime Minister will also act as minister for Economic Development, Youth Economy and Minister for Justice and National Security.
