The Dominica national cricket player, Alick Athanaze on Friday has slammed the joint-fastest half century on ODI debut, off just 26 balls. The cricket player, who has been part of the West Indies team during his ODI match in Sharjah.
The West Indies batsman Athnaze achieved this accomplishment in the third and the final ODI against the UAE team. Athnaze ended up scoring 65 off 45 ball, a knock filled with nine fours and three six.
While considering his significant accomplishment, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, took it to his official social media handle to congratulate the Alick Athanaze. While congratulating, PM Skerrit shared that, “A memorable debut for Dominica’s Alick Athanaze in the 3rd ODI, WI vs UAE. Athanaze hit 65 of 45 balls, equalling the fastest recorded half-century on ODI debut. A proud moment for us all. The Government and people of Dominica salute Alick Athanaze.”
It is to be noted that, Cricketer Alick Athanaze has equaled the record of the Krunal Pandya’s for the fastest fifty on ODI debut.
The Indian all-rounder also took 26 balls to get the milestone on his debut ODI against the England during the March 2021.
It is to be noted that Athanaze stepped into the grounds in the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he made a finish as the highest run-scorer. Notably, he has garnered over 418 scores in six outings with his average and strike rate being 104.50 and 95.87, respectively.
