The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, receives the final report from Dennis Byron after a review of the electoral system of Dominica. It is to be noted that the final report was received on Monday, June 12, 2023, and consisted of two phases.
In the details shared by the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica, The final report was received on Monday, June 12, 2023 and consists of the following: Phase 1 report which includes a draft Regulation of Electors Bill 2023 and a draft Registration of Electors Bill 2023, and Phase 2 report which consists of:
- The draft House of Assembly (Elections) Bill 2023
- The draft House of Assembly (Electors) Regulations 2023
- The draft House of Assembly Election Petition Rules 2023
- The draft Electoral Commission Bill 2023.
While considering the recent announcement made by the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, to make the report public. The Office of the Prime Minister in the details added that, “In keeping with the commitment made by the PM Skerrit on making the report public conduct stakeholders consultations, copies will be made available to the Members of the Parliament, along with the political parties, as well as NGOs, including, church, youth groups, media houses and personnel as well as other civil society organizations.”
Noting to this, the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica, has informed that, “The copies of the report will be shared with the stakeholders during the formal function on Wednesday at the State House Conference Center.”
At the same time, the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica, has also assured in the detailed notice that, the Government of Dominica is also committed to host the series of public consultations starting the mid of July for receiving feedback on the report and the draft laws and legislations.
