The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has paid visit to the Grotto Home for the Homeless and the Dominica Infirmary where, he held meeting with board of directors. The visit came following the Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit led government’s efforts towards providing care for the elder people.
It is to be noted that the details about the above mentioned has been shared by PM Skerrit over his official social media handle. As per PM Skerrit, “The target is to look for what is being done at these institutes, what the government is doing for financing the facilities and management of the facilities, and to come up with a solution to allow for better care provided to the people of the Grotto Home and Dominica Infirmary.
During the visit, PM Skerrit, said that, “What I have done is to put the Ministry of Social Services in direct contact with them, so they will be meeting to go through the details and the guidelines I have given and to make some strong recommendations about how the government can make further assistance, for ensuring that the staff can work at the optimal level.”
He further continued by stating that, “The requests and the concerns ae not things that cannot be dealt with, just a matter of working on the details and certainly I believe from our visit both the grotto home and the infirmary will be in a better place to provide the maximum care to our residents.”
PM Skerrit have further appreciated the management and the board for directors for both Grotto Home for the Homeless and the Infirmary for doing a fantastic job. Noting to which, he said that, “The place is quite clean and the residents are happy and well taken care of, their meals are well prepared.”
He plans to visit other such homes which include ‘The House of Hope’ to address the challenges there in regards to the physical structure of the building among other issues.
