St. Kitts and Nevis: Dr. Terrance Drew- The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis highlighted the work being done at constituency 8 of St. Peters under Drew led administration in less than two years.
He laid stress on the actions which were taken forward by the ministers as a team for the development in each sector of the country.
Infrastructural Development
The Prime Minister outlined that there were water related issues in the constituency to which the solution has been given. He added that the minister responsible for infrastructure, Konris Maynard through his dedicated efforts, made it possible to deliver the well in Cayon.
PM Drew further added that the government not only delivered the well but also worked on the desalination plant which will be completed in July or August.
“Soon, I think within a year, we will have two brand new, up to date generators and a Needs Must power plant.” said the Prime Minister.
Through such a statement, he even casted light on the installations to be done in the country to address the electricity issues. He added that the Needs Must power plant can be used as a source of energy that would produce 18 megawatts of power.
Growth in Education Sector
The labor party left no sector behind in terms of fostering growth and development in the country. Besides infrastructural development, the initiatives are well being taken for the education sector.
While emphasizing on the development in the education sector, the Prime Minister announced, “ the Education Minister, Geoffrey Henley revealed today in parliament, the plans for the Basseterre High School.”
Highlights to the expansion of Tourism Sector
The tourism sector has a great role in the strengthened state of St. Kitts and Nevis as the major part of its economy comes from tourism. He recognized the efforts by the Tourism Minister, Marsha Henderson who did great work.
He shed light on the cruise tourism industry of the country to which Tourism Minister, Marsha Henderson has taken to the heights through her tremendous work.
“She had to travel left, she had to travel right, she had to travel all over. Each time she traveled, she bring back something – new flights, new boards,” said the Prime Minister
Stating this, he appreciated her efforts in taking the sector to the place where it is today.
Remarkable growth in Agriculture Sector
Heading towards the remarkable growth in the agriculture sector, the Prime Minister stressed the amount $15 million which the fisheries industry brought in the country last year. With this, he applauded the efforts of the Agriculture Minister, Samal Duggins.
The Prime Minister further added that in the beginning, 200 thousand bananas and 200 thousand plantings were planted in and around the green valley area. He added that the agriculture minister is predicting to bring tons of millions of dollars to the country.
He appreciated the workings of all the ministers and said that it is the team work which made the things possible to be done in the country. He also recognized the remarkable work of Foreign Minister, Denzil Douglas who is presently not in St. Kitts and Nevis due to a family emergency.
