In its recent move, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) have made a donation of communication equipment to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs of Saint Lucia. The entire donation of the communication equipment valued at around USD20,000.
It is to be specifically noted that the donation of the communication equipment will going to provide an aid in empowering the dissemination of the information on health to the people of Saint Lucia.
During the handing over ceremony, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs, Jenny Daniel has extended thanks to the PAHO and reassured that the equipment will be put to optimum use.
Meanwhile, Country Programme Specialist for PAHO Reynold Hewitt said that, “PAHO was pleased for making the donation of communication equipment which it is believing that will improve the capacity of the communication unit to deliver the health messages to the vulnerable people and for creating the messages in the formats for all to easily understand.”
It is to be mentioned that the recent donation by PAHO on Thursday is an addition to the list of earlier donations by the Pan American Health Organization. Hewitt further mentioned that, “During the times of pandemic, PAHO facilitated human resource training, donated by personal protective equipment, oxygen concentrators, laboratory supplies, as well as many more hospital accessories for the response of the government towards the pandemic.”
