The Federal Cabinet of the Ministers of St Kitts and Nevis has approved temporary concessions on school supplies. According to the announcement, no taxes would be charged during the period between July 10, 2023 to September 30, 2023.
The announcement forms part of the steps that Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew led administration has approved for the implementation to ease the financial pressures of households, specifically single-parent households, with school-aged children.
It is to be noted that, all importers, commercial as well as non-commercial, would be eligible to take part and benefit from this programme.
As per the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr Terrance Drew, “the following steps represents one of the tangible ways that St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Administration is touching the lives of the people across the island.”
PM Drew further added that, “additionally to free tuition for all the students at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and free uniforms and textbooks for qualifying households, this is one of the specific steps taken by our administration since assuming office, for further ensuring that no child within the Federation is left behind. Education is foundational to our Administration’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.”
