St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, participated in the European Union-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit (EU-CELAC) in Brussels.
He attended the opening ceremony of the Summit and discussed several matters of concern. PM Drew said that the first day has concluded with fruitful discussions on the matters of interest that impact the region and effective resolutions.
Besides this, the delegation, including Foreign Minister Dr Denzil Douglas and Minister of Sustainable Development et al. Dr Joyelle Clarke also attended the EU-CELAC Summit.
On the opening day, PM Terrance Drew engaged in several activities. He presented his intervention on several key matters and shed light on the issues of the small island developing states.
PM Drew said that these critical issues include the current situation in Haiti, financial and economic assistance to address the climate fallout, and the embargo on Cuba were among the high-level issues discussed.
Besides this, the Foreign Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Denzil Douglas, held the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Romania, Luminita Odobesçu, following the opening ceremony. The discussion of the meeting featured the ways of strengthening cooperation between both countries.
Both nations expressed their commitment to deepening their bilateral cooperation.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew also shared snapshots of the Summit in which he could be seen engaging with several diplomatic leaders.
Commencing on July 17, 2023, the third edition of the EU-CELAC summit will be ended on July 18 with a discussion on several key issues. The key issues of the discussion will be Climate financing, Strengthening the common trade agenda between the EU and CELAC, implementing the Global Gateway investment strategy to accelerate a fair green and digital transition and address inequalities, justice, citizen security and the fight against transnational organized crime and promoting peace and security, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and humanitarian aid.
