Nassau, The Bahamas: The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on February 15 has arrived in the Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas, to take part in the Forty Fourth Regular Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of the Government, which was set to take place from February 15, 2023, to February 17, 2023.
Notably, the meeting of the CARICOM Heads of the Government has been hosted under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Phillip Davis.
It is further mentioned that the meeting of the Governments Heads will be discussing mainly about the CARICOM Single Market & Economy (CSME), Climate Change and Climate Finance, Agriculture and Food Security as well as Health. Following are the issues that will be discussed under the key agenda for discussion.
Heads of the Government have been receiving updates from CARICOM IMPACS & the Council for National Security & Law Enforcement, as well as the Special CARICOM Ministerial Task Force on Agriculture. They have planned on implications for the Region from the outcome of the COP27 Climate Change Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt and the need for increasing investment in energy security for member states.
The Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee (PMSC) will also update the meeting on developments in the CSME.
Prime Minister Skerrit is accompanied to the meeting by Minister for Foreign Affairs International Business, Trade and Energy, Dr Vince Henderson.
Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security Dr Irving McIntyre is acting as Prime Minister.
