While recalling on this, PM Dr Roosevelt Skerrit said that, “For me, as a chairman of the CARICOM, I have indicated, very sincerely, that the Haitian situation is my number one priority. We owe it to the Haitian people and it is important that the entire Caribbean Community, not only the Heads of the Government, but the entire CARICOM is aware of the issues that are surrounding Haiti and for us to collectively provide that moral commitment and support to Haiti.”
He further added that, “We are in touch with the members of the security council, because at the end of the day, it is the security that is going to make a determination as to what kind of support the United Nations can provide.
