St. Kitts and Nevis: Dr. Terrance Drew- the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis signed the contract for the New National Hospital Project on Friday. With this, the country marks a historic milestone for the development of the health care sector in the country.
“We have embarked on the journey that signifies progress, resilience and steadfast commitment to the wellbeing of all of our people and visitors,” said the Prime Minister.
Such a project signals the development in the health care sector that commits the responsibility of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. And, the PM outlined that the climate resilience hospital would not only be equipped for the issues posed by climate but is built with the mission of resilience, adaptable and compassionate.
This agreement has been signed with the President of the Overseas Engineering and Construction Company (OECC). And, the Prime Minister has extended gratitude to the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for their support to St. Kitts and Nevis for the construction of new climate-smart national hospital.
While speaking at the signing ceremony, the PM Drew added, “ I want to assure the hon. Konris Maynard, that the name will remain Jan France General Hospital.”
With such an announcement, the Prime Minister declared the name of the hospital and assured the infrastructure development minister for the same. Such a development lays great mark in strengthening the position of the country.
Not only this, the Prime Minister also highlighted that the government is seeking to establish a medical city and health city in this zone. He added that it will be an addition to the zone and the country will have a research lab along with this and other healthcare facilities to benefit the people at the place and surrounding countries and islands and visitors.
This marks the government’s commitment towards fostering the development in the country through the dedicated efforts towards reaching towards the sustainable development goals of the country, St. Kitts and Nevis.
