St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited Cayon Primary School as representative of Constituency #8 where they donated essential items for the enhancement of the school. He donated the things amidst a brief but meaningful handing-over ceremony conducted during the school’s general assembly on Feb 06, 2024.
PM Drew also highlighted the key initiatives implemented by the government for the advancement of the students, such as the one-to-one laptop programme and the Financial Education and Savings Programme.
A section of the donated items by the Prime Minister comprised one Air Conditioning Unit, six fans, one small refrigerator, one laptop and two large coolers, all of which are expected to significantly enhance the learning environment and overall comfort of the school community.
These essential items were handed over to the Principal of the school during a special assembly this morning.
Prime Minister made a revelation that the school’s principal – Javan Cannonier, came to him during his last visit. They had a conversation and PM pledged his commitment to assist with the needs of the school.
PM Drew addressed the students and faculty of the school, while extending his addressal he recalled, “Last time I was here and I spoke with your head teacher and he said he might have some requests. And so, he reached out to see what I, as your representative for this area, would deliver for you.”
Prime Minister Terrance Drew, during the ceremony, enlightened about the several key initiatives that are undertaken by his administration and aim to positively impact the lives of the children of the nation.
He said, “We have delivered a number of things; your tablet and then one of the other things we want to give to do for you is to deliver to your account.”
The PM added, “Each of you will get EC $1,000 in the next few months, including shares.”
Drew said that they want us to start building an account. Learn how to save and invest from the time you are young. So that is the next thing that they are going to deliver for all of you.
He added to his words, “By the time you are 18 and you are ready to leave school, you will have shares in a company, and you will have money in your bank account to invest in your future.”
PM Drew’s dedication to support and contribution to the schools within his constituency remains evident and reflects his steadfast commitment to the education and well-being of the youth of the community.
