It is to be specifically mentioned that, the triple-jumper athlete of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Thea Lafond Gadson sets a new trimple jump National Record by crossing the mark of 14.62 meters, at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, capital city of Hungary. The recent win has made her securing a spot in the finals.

Thea Lafond-Gadson sets a new triple jump National Record of 14.62 meters at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. This secured her spot in the finals!! See you at the finals on Friday 25th August at 1:36pm local time!”
After securing the place in the finals, Dominica triple jump athlete Thea Lafond, while addressing the media, said that, “The only thing between me and finals is, is more accuracy and coming into the water; I realized I’m bringing in so much heat right now, and the balance is there that I could take off behind the board safely and make it to finals And I’ll deal with this another day. And that’s what we did. I got up, and I saw I was passed the big cue. I believe I screamed; I don’t care. I’m going to finals, no matter what. And I didn’t realize the national record until you just pointed out three straight 2 minutes ago. So I’m clearly I’m really happy, and I’m really excited as it is always an honour and privilege to represent Dominica, and I am the only one to compete.”
