The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on Friday held meeting with the United States Ambassador to the Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Linda S. Taglialatela at the Office of the Prime Minister.
It is to be noted that, the meeting between the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, along with the delegation led by US Ambassador to the Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Linda S. Taglialatela came during the visit of US Ambassador and her delegation to the Commonwealth of Dominica, which was from August 10, 2023 to August 13, 2023.
The details about the following has been shared by the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. It is to be specifically mentioned that, during the meeting, the Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, held cordial discussions with the US Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Linda S. Taglialatela.
During the meeting, talks between PM Skerrit and delegation led by Ambassador Taglialatela, has revolved around major topics of concern including restoration of peace and stability in Haiti. Along with this, Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has also appealed for the United States support of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) proposal for the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) resolution for the deployment of an international security force for the direct purpose of restoring peace and stability in and across Haiti.
At the same time, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, during the meeting has also proposed a collective approach at the COP 28 on the climate change issues for building resilience and facilitating the climate financing for small, vulnerable states.
Along with this, Prime Minister has also reassured the US Ambassador to the Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean for the trusted friendship of CARICOM member states, in specific, the Commonwealth of Dominica.
