The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on Tuesday paid visit at the Housing Development in the Center Grand Bay. During the visit on the site, he also addressed the media personnel on the ongoing development of the housing site.
Noting to which, PM Skerrit said that, “This is the major project, building new homes. As you know, after Erica, we had to relocate the residents of Dubuc. Initially, we built some petrocases for them. Some of them were impacted by the hurricane. Then, we have decided in an effort to build greater resilience, that we would redevelop the homes for the community.”
He further added that, “so we have an access of 40 homes for the residents of Dubuc, combination of three and two bedrooms.”
During the address, PM Skerrit also recognized the housing need for Grand Bay, adding that, “We have also made provisions for housing in Grand Bay. I believe in the first instance 24 new homes and 10 were renovated for to this, specifically for the Grand Bay.”
At the same time, PM Skerrit, shared that, “In addition to that, we have some land up that, we have some land up that there are still some discussion whether we sell lots for individuals in Grand Bay. We like to build their own homes or whether we should do an addition of building the homes and sell them to some of the residents in Grand Bay. So this is going to take place in the next couple of weeks.”
“we are planning to build the community center that will include hurricane shelter with the supporting amenities. And we are also building a new stand alone magistrate court. And so it will be a designated magistrate court. And utilizing the space as existing in the police station,” says PM Skerrit.
