Saint Lucia: The Government of Saint Lucia has released a video that considers several policy decisions and actions taken by Prime Minister Philip J Pierre this year.
The people-first policy decisions effectively addressed the everyday realities that confront the average households of Saint Lucia. The season’s greeting video also mentions the selected medical equipment, which will be available VAT-free until 2025 and is anticipated to lower the cost of regular medical exams.
Reportedly, the Saint Lucian Government contributed $15 for every £20 LPG cooking gas cylinder. It has spent more than $11 million to subsidise LPG cooking gas cylinders instead of making customers pay the maximum retail price (MRP).
The government subsidised essential consumables such as flour, sugar and menstrual products, including tampons, sanitary napkins and pads. Several bad amenities were brought into effect to save people in terms of cost.
The cost of lumber, cement, steel, plywood, galvanised and solar PV systems are reduced to 12.5%. 100% wavering of penalties and fines will be recorded if taxes get settled completely by May 01, 2024.
PM Philip J Pierre primarily strengthened the consumer spending power to beat back inflation. The government paid $11.5 million to public servants due to his successful fiscal policy measures in March 2023. NIC pensioners currently receive a 4.2 % increase in their monthly pension.
The government will not deduct refolding tax from government contracts valued at $10,000 or less. $40 million tax refunds will be cleared by March 2024. Additionally, $10 million is expected to be cleared by December.
Since March 2021, the government paid $80 million to private sector service providers. Moreover, these policies are literally bringing money back to the consumers, businesses and households of Saint Lucia. Prime Minister Pierre confirms the solid footing of Saint Lucia’s economy.
The Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers skilfully steered Saint Lucia through the challenges of the year 2023 and have set everybody on course for continuous progress in the upcoming year 2024.
