St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Siemens and the K & K group, at the Siemens Office, at the Expo Pavilion in Dubai.
The MoU between the reputable firms was signed to explore the development of the green energy sector in St. Kitts and Nevis, to build a Sustainable Island State.
Reportedly, the partnership is a hope in a quest to build a more resilient, sustainable and climate smart future.
At the discussion, the Chairman of the K&K Group – Dr. Tajeddine Seif, PM Drew said that his government is committed to involve the local communities in the project and to provide opportunities for education and training in sustainable energy technologies that will empower the residents to contribute towards the development of the nation.
Considering this Dr. Seif promised Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew that his company supports its strategic partners which include Siemens Energy that are resolute in leading the development, installation and management of the infrastructure of the renewable energy via delivery through subsea cable.
K&K Group Chairman Dr. Seif said that by integrating the geothermal energy into the grid, the Federation can improve the grid stability and reliability which will benefit not only St. Kitts and Nevis but also the potential neighbour islands through the interconnection.
PM Drew has emphasised the importance of the partnership and said that the Project will enable the St. Kitts and Nevis to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, by lowering its carbon footprint, preserves of natural resources.
Moreover, according to the prime minister, the project will contribute to global efforts to fight against climate changes, ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.
During the ongoing development phase of the project, PM Drew stated that they will create new employment opportunities, drive economic growth and foster sustainable development across both islands and the wider region.
PM Dr. Terrance Drew expressed his gratitude to the investors for their confidence in the potential and commitment of the country to advance the important initiatives.
Notably, the government looks forward to a fruitful collaboration and is excited about the transformational impacts the project will have on energy landscape of the nation.
