The Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has elected Sylvanie Burton as the first female President of the island state in a formal process during the 5th meeting of the first session of the eleventh parliament session on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
It is to be noted that the details about the above mentioned has been shared by the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit via his official social media handle. Newly elected President Sylvanie Burton will be the first female President of Dominica to assume the highest chair of the nation. She preceded President Charles A. Savarin.
Notably, Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, via his social media post, added that, “Sylvanie Burton is the President Elect of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Burton was elected in a formal process during the Fifth Meeting of The First Session of The Eleventh Parliament on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.”
Along with this, Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has also extended congratulations to the newly elected President Burton, adding that, “On behalf of the Government of Dominica I extend warmest congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Burton as she takes up the esteemed position of Dominica’s Head of State.”
It is to be specifically mentioned that, the President-Elect will be sworn into office on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 4 PM at the State House Conference Center. The details about the following has also been shared by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit.

Noting to which, PM Skerrit, added that, “I wish also, to thank the President, H.E Charles A Savarin and Mrs. Clara Savarin for their distinguished years of service to the Commonwealth of Dominica. May God bless them richly.”
