St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew wished all the ladies ‘Happy Women’s Day’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated every year on March 08.
He greeted on the occasion through a post, that he shared on his official facebook page. He shared a poster related to the occasion and wrote, “Happy International Women’s Day!”
PM Drew showed his support towards the women empowerment and added, “Empowered women empower the world. Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women who continue to break barriers, inspire change and shape a future where equality knows no bounds.”
Following the greetings, many people have thanked the prime minister.
Ena Hamilton who works at the Church of England wrote, “Thank you P.M. from me, from across the Pond Birmingham U.K. Blessings also for you & your Lovely wife.”
Another person Naomi D. Prince commented, “Thank you PM and wishing the same for your beautiful wife.”
A person named Naomi Harris said, “Thank you PM have a wonderful day.”
Another person named Au David commented, “A special thank you to you PM may god build a hedge of protection around you have a marvelous weekend, love always.”
International Women’s Day, also known with the acronym IWD, observes a holiday and is celebrated annually on March 08, referring to the women’s rights movement.
IWD mainly focuses on the issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women. The day is spurred by the universal female suffrage movement.
International Women’s Day is originated from labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century.
Along with PM Terrance Drew, the Minister of Tourism Marsha T. Henderson has also wished the ladies of St Kitts and Nevis ‘Happy Women’s Day’.
While extending the wishes, minister Henderson wrote, “On this remarkable International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible achievements of women worldwide.”
She added further, “As the Minister of Tourism, I am honoured to advocate for the critical theme of ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ and join the chorus of individuals committed to advancing gender equality.”
Marsha Henderson shared that in the tourism sector, they have a unique responsibility to create an enabling environment for women to excel and lead. “By investing in women, we are investing in a brighter future for all,” added tourism minister.
