The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has agreed for helping in building international partnerships in supporting efforts to return Haiti to peace as well as stability, as a necessary precursor for free, fair as well as credible elections.
Notably, PM Skerrit was among the Heads of the Government of the CARICOM at their 44th Regular Meeting in the Bahamas that has concluded on Friday.
The Heads of the CARICOM has recalled that the Community must be playing a leadership role in addressing the continuously worsening situation across Haiti, a Member State of the Community towards that there are moral as well as political obligations.
Moreover, Government Heads during the meeting has also affirmed that decisive action is required at the earliest chance by CARICOM in view of the growing insecurity as well as its widespread impact on all of the facets of life in Haiti.
Meanwhile, the Heads of the Government were also joined by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
The Heads of the Government acknowledged in adopting the December 21, last year, political agreement, the National Consensus for inclusive Transition & Transparent Elections, launched by Ariel Henry, who is the Interim Prime Minister of Haiti, but were of the viewpoint that it required to be more inclusive.
In this regard, they have further agreed to convene an early meeting of stakeholders which is to be take place in Jamaica.
They have further agreed to take part in a meeting to be convened in Haiti with stakeholders of Haiti, to provide assistance in the development of a plan for restoring security and the rule of law.
