The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has taken part in the opening ceremony of the 73rd meeting of the OECS Authority which has taken place at the St Kitts and Nevis. PM Skerrit took it to his official social media handle to share the details of his visit to the St Kitts and Nevis, along with the glimpses of the meeting. PM Skerrit shared that his trip to the Twin Islan Federation has taken place over two days, Sunday, June 18, and Monday, June 19.
He added that he is in the capital city of Basseterre for celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the OECS. The 73rd OECS Authority meeting took place under the chairmanship of Larry Vaughn. The event has also featured the handover of the chairmanship of OECS to Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew. During the ceremony, PM Skerrit was also present among the leaders.
During the ceremony, he also held meeting with the incoming chairperson of the OECS and congratulated him with best wishes for the successful tenure. Meanwhile, the leaders of the OECS held discussion on several issues, including health, regional integration, and security at all. All those leaders who have attended has taken the chance to extend their commitment on working together on these issues.
PM Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also extended his delight in being present in St Kitts for celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the OECS. The anniversary celebration takes place under the theme “Vision, Integration, Sustainability, and progress.”
Meanwhile, significant names on the celebration guest include the Director-General of the OECS, Didacus Jules. The members of the federal cabinet of St Kitts and Nevis, Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Marcella Liburd and members of the Nevis Island Assembly, headed by the Premier Mark Brantley, were present.
One extremely significant attendant of the 73rd meeting of the OECS was one of their founding members, Kennedy Simmonds. He has played a crucial role in developing the Caribbean the way it is today.
