St. Kitts and Nevis: Pre-Labour Day Meeting by SKNLP (St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party) is going to be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at St. Paul’s. Different venues have been decided to arrange the meetings.
The gatherings will be conducted for the constituency-8 by SKNLP at H38 (Siver-Toyota) Cayon – Keys, HA 8137, St. Peter’s – Conaree and H89 (Silver – Hiace), St. Peter’s.
To commemorate the celebrations of Labour Day, SKNLP has also extended an invitation to all its comrades for the 2024 edition of the Annual Labour Day.
The celebrations will be held with the vision of celebrating the commitment of the Labour Party towards the growth and success.
Reportedly, the St. Kitts and Nevis will conduct several activities in order to commemorate the tiring and continuous efforts by the SKN Labour Party towards the development of the nation.
The Annual Labour Day will be observed on Monday, May 06, 2024 at the selected venue ‘Patsy Allers Playing Field’ under the theme ‘Live, Work, Prosper: Together.’
SKNLP is observing Labour Day celebrations for the continuous days from April 23, 2024 to May 05, 2024 and is conducting different activities.
Some of them have already been conducted and some will still be observed. On April 23 Regional Meeting/Walkthrough 1: C2, C3, C4 at the Venue C4 was conducted.
On April 24, Regional Meeting/Walkthrough 2: C5, C6, C7 at the Venue C7; on April 25, Regional Meeting/Walkthrough 3: C1, C8 at the Venue C1, were conducted.
On April 28th, C2 National Walkthrough was observed; on April 30, C6 Pre-Labour Day Meeting will be observed; on May 02 C8 Pre-Labour Day meeting will be conducted and on May 3rd Mini Motorcade and Block Lime at Venue: C2 will be held.
Furthermore, May 04 will be the contest day for Miss Labour Queen Pageant at the Carnival City and will begin around 7:00 p.m. After that on May 05, Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Country Wide around 2:30 p.m. will be held.
The events mentioned are committed to entertain the visitors and attendees present there and they will get to experience the day filled with several entertaining activities and performances.
The St. Kitts and Labour Party has urged the citizens to wear red clothes or turn as many things as possible red, to celebrate all the workers of St. Kitts and Nevis.
St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) which is simply called as ‘Labour’ is a centre-left political party in the island nation St. Kitts and Nevis. The political party is currently in power and is ruling in the country, after winning six of the eleven seats in the year 2022 general elections.
SKNLP is the oldest active political party in the English-speaking Caribbean. This is for the second time that they are commemorating Labour Day since they have assumed the office.
Since the country’s independence in 1983, Two leaders of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party have served as the Prime Ministers. St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party has led the nation for over a decade.
Later after receiving the defeat in 2015 and 2020, Dr. Denzil Douglas has decided to step down as a party leader in 2021. Then, the party chairman Dr. Terrance Drew was elected as his successor in a national convention and Earl Asim Martin was chosen as the new party chairman.
Recalling the history, the party was first led by Robert Bradsh4aw from 1946 to 1978. It saw most of its success on St. Kitts and as voters on Nevis and Anguilla that tended to elect independents and local parties.
Back then, SKNLP was the only party to contest the 1952 elections and conquered all the eight seats. Currently the party rule over eight constituencies of the St. Kitts and Nevis i.e. Constituency-01, Constituency-02, Contituency-03, Constituency-04, Constituency-06, and Constituency-08.
