Tropical Storm Bret is forecasted to strengthen across the Dominica on Tuesday. The forecast says that the tropical storm conditions are seeming possible within the watch area, normally within the period of 48 hours.
At around 5 pm, the center of Tropical Storm Bret was forecasted around 12.2 north latitude, and 48.6 west longitude or around 880 miles east southeast of Dominica. Tropical Storm Bret is moving rapidly towards the West at 30km/h, and the forecast added that this motion is likely to continue for the next several days. The forecast mentioned that the centre for the system is now projected to pass a bit more southerly across the Lesser Antilles towards the end of the week. Maximum sustained winds have spiked nearly 75 km/h with higher gusty winds.
It is also predicted that it may gain some extra strength, but, Bret is likely to maintain tropical storm status on its approach. The predictions are making an estimate that the storm could arrive by Thursday morning. Growing intensity of the Bret is making it hard to exactly locate and to specify the intensity and magnitude of the tropical storm Bret.
Meanwhile, the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica are releasing guidelines for the citizens in an attempt to encourage them to take all the necessary steps to take all the necessary precautions to guard themselves, their families as well as their properties.
Considerably, the Minister of National Security, Senator Rayburn Blackmoore said that, “While Dominica is not yet under any official watch for the approaching storm, citizens should keep a close check on the progress of the storm.”
Minister Blackmoore added that, “Over the last several days, the Office of the Disaster Management and Met Service have been keeping a check on the weather system in the central tropical Atlantic which has developed into Tropical Storm Bret at 5 pm on Monday the 19th of June 2023. Although there are no watches and warning in effect at this time, however, it is also to be noted that the islands in the lesser Antilles including Dominica should keep a close check on the progress of this system. In this regard, Bret is likely to strengthen and move across the lesser Antilles as a category one hurricane on the later Thursday noon into Friday bringing a risk of flooding from heavy rainfall, hurricane force winds and dangerous storm surge and waves.:
