St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew applauded the doctors of St. Kitts and Nevis who saved the lives of more than 30 sick children with an effort of paying for the Emergency Overseas Medical Care, in the recently conducted Round Table special interview on April 24, 2024.
PM Drew appreciated the improvements made in the health sector that mainly considered the positive changes introduced in the JNF General Hospital. From ordering an MRI and installing a CT Scan machines, with other necessary medical equipments, St. Kitts and Nevis has begun the accreditation process for all.
It was a great initiative to fix the roofs at JNF General Hospital, beginning with the renovations and installation of ACs in the wards allotted to the patients.
PM also highlighted the initiative of secured financing for a new Climate Smart Hospital, for which the construction will begin in the year 2024.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew expressed the significance of MoU signed between the K&K Group and Siemens. He highlighted that agreement between the Saudi development investment groups K&K and Siemens was signed to initiate the technological advancements in the St. Kitts and Nevis.
As Siemen has a high and good reputation for technological advancements it will play a significant role in the renewable sector.
Enlightening about the K&K and Siemens agreement as a significant investor organization in the UAE, it is very beneficial for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis that they have come together to develop the geothermal as a source of energy in the nation.
Prime Minister also mentioned the Premier of Nevis – Mark Brantley, who is also an opposition leader and marked that they both were involved in the engagement and the two firms. As a matter of fact, PM Drew sent him a copy of the signed MoU and discussed with him earlier in the month of April. Brantley supported the initiative by the federation where the development of the geothermal energy potential will be achieved.
Reportedly, PM Dr. Terrance Drew gave the reference of the engagement happened occurred between the Siemens and K & K group, recently, where thy signed an MoU at the Siemens Office, Expo Pavilion in Dubai, UAE.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed to explore the development of the green energy sector in St. Kitts and Nevis to further build a Sustainable Island State. Furthermore, the partnership is a hope in a quest to build a more resilient, sustainable and climate smart future.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis indulged in the meeting with the private investors, during his visit to UAE. He had a conversation with the interested investors who want to explore financial opportunities in the island nation.
St. Kitts and Nevis prime minister Drew, also grabbed the opportunity to meet the owner of the SeaWorld in UAE and expressed interest to come and explore the possibilities offered to invest in the nation.
He explained the opportunity to know a number of activities surrounding the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.
Tourism was another major sector on which PM Drew put stressed. He recalled inviting the ‘Icon of the Seas’ to Port Zante, which was really a proud moment for the federation and the ministry of tourism.
PM Drew initiated the ceremony of breaking the ground for the New Hotel Indigo in Frigate Bay. Hosting of the biggest ever Music Festival and National Carnival in St. Kitts Island was a major change.
PM emphasised upon introducing the Visa-Free Options to travel to Canada and have access to many other countries. He expressed the launching of the ‘Venture Deeper’ tourism campaign. The campaign launched by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority builds on the distinct characteristics of the island.
The campaign introduces the elements of self-discovery and intention of purpose driven goals of today’s travellers.
Considering the National Security as a major concern of the federation, PM Drew explained highlighting the reforming of Corrupt Peace Programme into elevate and promoting the changes in actual life.
St. Kitts and Nevis National Security has committed resources and for the same they have hired new professionals to tackle and prevent the crime.
To manage and maintain the security of the island nation the federation has implemented the modern crime fighting techniques and policies, while majorly focusing on the community policing.
